Many of Hawaii's coastal communities rely heavily on the health of the marine environment for their livelihoods, yet the perspectives and contributions of racially diverse scientists are often underutilized in developing solutions to complex environmental challenges.
By providing funding for field studies, internships, and partnerships with local marine conservation organizations, this initiative seeks to encourage more HBCU students to pursue careers in marine biology.
