Demonstrated discipline from golf participation aligns with workforce needs where shift work and customer service predominate.
Implementation requires applicants to document at least 60 hours of verified golf-related activity through course records or school clubs. Funds disburse directly to the institution after verification of enrollment in a degree program. Unlike mainland states with contiguous road networks, Hawaii reviewers examine flight logs or ferry receipts as proof of sustained participation across islands. The program accepts community college starts, recognizing that 38 percent of Hawaii undergraduates begin at two-year campuses before transferring.
Hawaii's isolation from continental supply chains creates distinct program design. Scholarships prioritize residents of the six most populous islands who commit to remaining in-state for at least two academic years post-award.
